How to read a KNRUHS college-wise allotment list, column by column

The college-wise allotment PDFs published by KNRUHS are dense, and the format has changed over the years. Here is how to read the current layout.
The header
Each college section starts with a line like COLL :: OMCH - OSMANIA MEDICAL COLLEGE, HYDERABAD. The short code is the college's identifier, and the course line beneath it says MBBS. Everything listed until the next header belongs to that college.
The columns
- RANK: the candidate's NEET All India Rank, not the state merit rank.
- ROLL_NO: the NEET roll number.
- CAT: the category the candidate declared. This can differ from the category of the seat they got.
- SX: M or F.
- MIN, PH, NCC, CAP, PMC, ANG, SCL, EWS: flag columns for special categories, filled only where they apply.
- Adm Details: the most useful column. It describes the seat itself.
Decoding "Adm Details"
Take OPEN-GEN-P1. It reads: an open seat, under the general quota (not the women-reserved one), allotted in phase 1. Compare BCB-FEM-P1: a seat reserved for BC-B, within the women's quota. Sometimes an extra tag sits in the middle, such as BCD-GEN-MRC-P1, where MRC marks a reserved-category candidate placed on merit.
The key habit: judge a seat by the Adm Details code, not by the candidate's declared category. A BC-B candidate holding an OPEN seat got it in open competition, and their rank tells you about the open cutoff, not the BC-B one.
Older lists look different
The lists for 2020-21 through 2023-24 carry an extra local-area token before the category, and their Adm Details code begins with REG- followed by UNR or LOC, for example REG-UNR-OPEN-GEN-P1. That extra segment recorded whether a seat came through the local-area quota. The 2025-26 and 2026-27 lists no longer carry it. Also, older lists show the SC category as a single group, without the SC-1, SC-2 and SC-3 split that appears in newer ones.
Working out a cutoff: traps to avoid
- Do not take the last rank on the page as the cutoff. Special-quota admissions can sit far beyond the general cutoff, as we explain in our special quotas guide.
- Separate open seats from reserved seats. Use the Adm Details code, not the CAT column.
- Convert ranks carefully. The list shows NEET rank, while cutoffs for reserved seats make most sense as a category rank. Our article on state merit rank vs category rank explains the conversion.
- Compare like with like. Round 1 and later rounds have different closing ranks.
Or skip the spreadsheet work and use the predictor, which does all of this for you.
